Iridium Dial-up data service

• Iridium Dial-Up Data may function in a MAC environment. At this time, Iridium supports its Data software within Microsoft Windows 95, 98, Me, NT 4.0, 2000 or XP Operating Systems.

Inmarsat BGAN

• Yes, both Windows and MAC users may use the system. In fact any TCP-IP capable device that can work with DHCP is able to connect to the system.

Should a ThurayaIP Modem software upgrade become available, you can complete the upgrade process yourself. The software can be downloaded directly from the Internet using any available access method, including ThurayaIP.

In order to upgrade software you must first connect to the Internet and follow the steps listed below:

• Connect your PC/Notebook to the Internet using ThurayaIP (satellite service), wired LAN, or dial up connection.
• Go to www.thuraya.com or use the Upgrade link on the Properties Page if connected to the ThurayaIP
• Go to the web site area for ThurayaIP updates.
• To download, select the latest upgrade package. The browser proceeds to retrieve the package.
• Once the package is downloaded, you are prompted to execute the package. Select Yes and the upgrader application will self-extract onto the PC’s hard drive.
• Once the package is installed, it puts a shortcut on the desktop and prompts you to upgrade now. Make sure the ThurayaIP is now connected to the PC via Ethernet (recommended) or USB and is powered up.
• Select the upgrade option on the PC, and the program will allow you to upgrade the terminal
• The upgrader will query the current software version of the terminal.
• You should choose whether you want to upgrade to the newer version of software.
• If you choose to upgrade the terminal, the process automatically downloads the new release of software and forces a terminal reboot.
• When the terminal returns from reboot, you can verify that the download was successful via the Properties page in the wMMI.
• Once loaded onto a PC, the upgrade program can be used to upgrade any number of ThurayaIP terminals. Just connect them one at a time and execute the upgrade program.

• In the phone menu, you can access all GPS related features from the “GPS manager” submenu.
• After you determine your GPS location, you can send it via SMS to anyone.
• GPS is a built-in feature and free of charge in all Thuraya phones.

Use Your Satellite Phone Indoors

Thuraya services, like in any other GMPCS system, are intended for outdoor usage. However the Thuraya system will enable users who are indoors to receive an alerting signal. He or she can then move outdoors to start the call. The Thuraya user terminal is dual mode–GSM/Satellite Thuraya– and the user also has the option to use GSM while in a GSM network and indoors. (GSM not available on SO-2510)

Thuraya’s Fixed Docking Unit (FDU)- the Home/Office Docking product allows the usage of the Thuraya phone in an indoor environment such as home or office. The FDU complements the Thuraya phone by extending its operations and functionalities inside buildings.

Use An Alternative Power Device To Charge Your Product

Car Charger 

• It’ll work on all models of vehicles and boats.
• Plug into the DC-power supply of your vehicle (cigarette lighter plug) then into the DC jack port of your phone or satellite device.

Solar Travel Charger

• The charger is a light, rollable solar charger.
• Drape it where you see fit, on your back as you trek for example
• Make sure the panels are directed to the sun or light
• Plug in the DC power supply into your DC jack port of your phone or satellite device

Factory Reset Your Phone

To Reset Factory Resettings please follow the instuction below.

• Select Menu > Settings > Reset > Factory Settings

The phone will then display 'resetting' and after a few seconds the phone will then return to normal.

It is advised to gain a new GPS position this can be found on our Knowledge Base.

Iridium

The following two different levels of resetting are available:

• Restart: No configuration information or user data (call log, user list, phonebook) are deleted. When this command is issued/ chosen, all control units are forced back to idle state regardless of their current state.
• Factory reset: NOTE! ALL! Configuration information and user data (call log, user list, phonebook) are deleted. When this command is issued, your iridium equipment returns to the state it was in when leaving the factory.

Pay Your Bill As An Indigo Subscriber

• The subscription and call charges will be paid to Indigo Telecom Limited in US Dollars.
• Payment in other foreign currencies and cheques has to be pre-authorized by Indigo. If you have a prepaid SIM, however, then there will be a one-time subscription and activation fee.
• To keep using it, all you need to do is buy scratch cards to top up your balance. Indigo accepts credit card indemnity as a means of payment. Only major cards (VISA, VISA Electron, American Express and MasterCard are accepted.

Dialing Instructions

• To call from Iridium to other countries, dial 00 + country code + number
• Callers should wait a full minute for the call to connect. Your phone will vibrate or respond only if it is turned on (standby mode).
• Speak slowly and clearly, just like an international call. Pause after each transmission. Some users say “over” after each transmission. There is a slight lag, as with international long distance calls, since the voice signal is traveling around the world.

To send a message to a Thuraya phone, just log on to http://services.thuraya.com/sms.html

Select “Send SMS to Thuraya phone”, type the Thuraya number, write the message and click send.

Iridium

To send a message to a Iridium phone, just log on to http://messaging.iridium.com/
